Kevin Costner became one of the biggest stars on television with Yellowstone.

Now he’s doing something completely different for his next project.

And Kevin Costner has a new television series coming out that put Hollywood on notice.

The final half of season five of the Parmount+ series Yellowstone is scheduled to be released later this year.

It’s still up in the air if the show’s star, Kevin Costner, will reprise his role as John Dutton in it or not.

He says he’s up to returning to the final episodes to wrap up his character’s story arc but it remains to be seen if the show’s executives are willing to bring him back.

While fans wait for clues about Yellowstone’s future, Costner announced his latest television project.

Limited run Civil War spy series on deck

A six episode limited series called The Gray House will make its world premiere at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival in Monaco this June.

The show is billed as a Civil War spy thriller that’s based on a true story.

Costner and veteran actor Morgan Freeman are among the producers for the show.

“The six-episode limited series tells the hidden-history tale of four Southern women — a Virginia socialite and her mother, a formerly enslaved Black woman and a high-end prostitute — who served as key espionage agents for the Union. The foursome are credited as unsung heroes who helped end the nation’s brutal cleavage in 1865. Mary-Louise Parker, Amethyst Davis, Daisy Head, and Ben Vereen lead the ensemble cast,” Variety reported.

Costner isn’t acting in the show but he said audiences would enjoy the spy adventure.

“As a storyteller, I’ve always looked to history. The Gray House is an important American story, yet is relatable to audiences around the world because it’s a true saga of sacrifice for freedom. It is an epic spy adventure that will thrill, educate, and inspire viewers. I would have liked to direct it myself, but I’m proud to be part of this project. The considerable talent of director Roland Joffé has given us a portrait of four incredibly brave women against the sweeping backdrop of war, romance, history, and tragedy,” Costner said in a statement.

There’s no word yet which television network or streaming service might carry in the United States but Paramount Global Content Distribution is distributing it internationally.

Costner has a busy 2024 ahead of him

In addition to a potential return to Yellowstone, Costner has two his two-part Western film Horizon: An American Saga coming out this summer.

The epic is a passion project that Costner has been working on since 1988.

He co-wrote, directed, and stars in this film that tells the story of the American West being settled.

The movie drew headlines for the conflict it created with shooting Yellowstone with the series accusing Costner of having less time to film the show with his work on Horizon.

Costner blamed script delays by the show interfering with his movie production.

But no matter what happens with Yellowstone, fans will be able to see Kevin Costner on the big screen later this year.
