Clarence Thomas made one decision that had Donald Trump breathing a sigh of relief

Mar 4, 2024

Democrats were counting on lawfare to win the 2024 Election.

But their scheme was upended in an instant.

And Clarence Thomas made one decision that had Donald Trump breathing a sigh of relief.

The biggest battles in the 2024 Election are being fought in the courtroom.

In a blatant attempt to interfere in the election, former President Donald Trump is facing 91 criminal charges spread out across four cases.

Supreme Court takes Presidential immunity case

The Supreme Court agreed to hear Trump’s claim of Presidential immunity for the criminal case brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith over January 6.

The court will answer, “Whether and if so to what extent does a former President enjoy Presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office.”

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit rejected Trump’s Presidential immunity claim but the matter was too important for the court not to weigh in.

Oral arguments for the case are set to begin on April 22.

The Supreme Court ordered Smith to pause his case against Trump until they decided the Presidential immunity case.

Trump’s case likely pushed back until after the 2024 Election

Democrats were enraged after the Supreme Court agreed to hear the Trump Presidential immunity because their plan to have Trump convicted before the election was upended.

Smith had been racing against the clock to start the January 6 trial in Washington, D.C.

George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley said it was a “massive blow” to Smith’s rush to start the case, which would now likely be pushed back until after the election.

A decision from the Supreme Court is likely to be handed down sometime in June but it could drag into the first week of July.

“Even if the Court issues a decision before June in favor of the government, the trial court must hash out discovery and other motions,” Turley wrote on social media. “That would push the trial closer to the November election in tension with existing DOJ policies.”

Even legal experts on the Left conceded that the January 6 case was probably getting pushed back until after the election.

The goal of the case had always been to tie Trump down in court during the heat of campaign season and get a criminal conviction at the height of the election.

Polling shows that a criminal conviction against Trump in the case could swing enough voters to re-elect President Joe Biden.

Biden’s Justice Department could have charged in 2021 for the January 6 case but they waited to try and time it to coincide with the 2024 Election cycle.

The deck was stacked against Trump with a judge that was appointed by former President Barack Obama and a jury selected from a city where Biden won 92% of the vote.

Jack Smith’s plan to convict Donald Trump before the election was likely dealt a fatal blow by the Supreme Court.
